About the FUSE singles
In fall of 2006, Gary and Terry Charles hosted what was one of many Meat and Greet dinners in their home through the ministry of Colorado Community Church. The singles who were at that dinner, all in their 20’s and 30’s, shared with Gary and Terry the need they had for a regular group that reflected where they were in life, and the absence of a group to address their needs in the church. Gary and Terry, having sons in that age range themselves, recognized the need and felt called by the Lord to facilitate something to meet it.
As they began to plan for a group that could reach young professionals, Gary and Terry knew that the need was bigger than they had at first realized. This often-missed group was not only bigger than they realized, but more than ready for a place to belong, grow, and serve!
A group was started called “Young Professionals”, and rapidly grew. From potlucks to hiking trips to dancing, activities became more frequent and the numbers of people attending both these and the regular Bible studies increased. In fall of 2007, a leadership team formed to address the many areas of the group, including Outreach, Social Events, Prayer, Worship, and Bible Studies. As the leadership team sought to address the needs of the group, it became obvious that the name “Young Professionals” needed to be changed. After bouncing ideas around, three names were presented for a vote from the large group, and it was decided that the group would now be called “FUSE”. The idea behind this name comes from John 17:23 – “I (Jesus) in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.” The name also reflects the concept that things coming together to become one create an explosion of energy greater than either of the things could have produced separately.
FUSE has grown from those first few people to now having a regular group attendance around 40-50 with over 200 people who have visited or asked to be kept in the loop. The number keeps growing, and FUSE is bursting at the seams in the Charles’ home. As the group continues to expand, we are brainstorming new ways to address the needs presented, including where to meet, how to keep a small-group feel, how to grow in the Lord and grow closer to each other, and how to serve the Lord as a community.
This will give you an idea of our commitment to growing in Christ as we enjoy the fellowship of the Body of Christ and being able to share in the fullness of Christ with those that know Him personally as their savior and those that are seeking and gathering information. We are walking this journey called life and encourage you to be a part of FUSE at whatever level you feel comfortable with and whatever your schedule permits.
We would love to have you join us for any or all of the events, studies or ministries that present themselves! The leadership team is also seeking to help everyone in the group be involved in ministry, so if you have an interest in serving on the Outreach, Social, Worship, Hospitality or Prayer teams, or even would just like more information as to what that might look like, please feel free to contact us! We are excited to see where the Lord will continue to take us, and thrilled to invite you to join us on this journey of faith together.
